Gay has been teaching art for over 40 years, as an internationally-known potter and Nationally Certified Teacher at New Canaan High School, CT. She founded the Connecticut Clay Artists Association and has led art workshops and tours nationally and internationally, including craft and mythology tours to Japan and Greece and art and yoga retreats in Madison, CT and Tuscany, Italy.

Gay brings her philosophy that “Creativity Matters” to every aspect of her teaching. Students learn the skills of making art as well as the process of creating unique works.

The above speech "Creativity Matters" was given in Hartford at the occasion of acceptance of Art Teacher of the Year for the State of Connecticut, 2000.
